Education is one of the fastest growing sectors in the UK and providers have a duty to ensure that the large numbers of students that live and visit their campuses are kept secure and safe, whilst being able to access learning resources at all hours of the day. Universities and other academic institutions need to protect their investment in world class facilities and to maximise the ability of students to use and gain access to these facilities.
Thompson AVC's work in education is focused around implementing solutions which automate access and increase learning opportunities, while reducing the burden on campus staff. Our recent projects have included the installation of centralised control systems enabling security staff to monitor different sites from one location, and the development of integrated access solutions enabling students to freely enter IT facilities, and residential complexes, while keeping out unauthorised entrants. We develop systems which merge intruder and fire safety systems and enhance disabled access through the provision of induction loops and audio-visual systems.
