Newcross Hospital
Thompson AVC were selected to install a new control room in New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton, to enable the security staff to view the 64 acre estate at the touch of a button. Our approach was to make use of a combination of new integrated technology solutions and the Trust’s own existing computer network to allow staff to view the entire site with ease, while minimising additional costs.
The hospital has a number of specific requirements. Staff need to be able to track individuals throughout their large site, which includes 20 different departments as well as car parks vulnerable to petty crime. Besides a central control desk for monitoring and managing the whole system, seven areas require their own local recording and monitoring facilities.
The installed system provides near real-time video transmission and provides both local control and central management without the need for expensive cabling. Functions such as as motion searchâ˘, for locating movement in recorded pictures, and synchronised playback⢠for simultaneous display of pictures recorded from different cameras, provide useful analysis tools.
The hospital has future building plans, so the control desk has been setup to be easy to move, and the system is open to expansion. This means that the Trust has a solution which not only meets their immediate needs but is totally future proofed.
