3 school logosAfter a busy 4 months on site, the Thompson AVC team have finally handed over our works to complete the installation and commissioning of the security, fire and life safety systems covering the new buildings at three Midlands schools.

Working with the M&E specialists at the Dodd Group, the Thompson team have supplied and installed the access control, IP CCTV, intruder alarm, intercoms, Emergency Voice Communication System (EVCS), W.C. alarms and fixed and portable induction loops as well as comprehensive fire detection and alarm systems.

The fire alarm systems incorporate the use of 2 x Notifier ID3000 fire panels connected to over 300 devices across the site, with both the 8 loop and 2 loop panels being connected using Notifier ID2 Net network modules – providing a global evacuation notice in the event of a fire being detected. In addition to their traditional use, the fire alarm sounders throughout the building will also be utilised for site wide class change notifications.

As part of the government funded ‘Midlands Priority Schools Building Programme’, the Ark Kings Academy project in Kings Norton is one of 4 schools being upgraded under the same contract – with similar protection systems also being installed at Phoenix Collegiate Academy in West Bromwich and the first phase of Plantsbrook School in Sutton Coldfield – with work yet to start at Greenwood Academy in Castle Vale.
