Wolverhampton University

Thompson AVC have been working with the University of Wolverhampton as part of their multi million investment programme. The new facilities include hi-tech learning resource centres, professional standard sports facilities and the largest wireless network in Higher Education in the UK, creating a learning and living environment truly fit for the 21st century student.

The IT Tower, a key component of the development programme is in the heart of the City Campus and houses IT services, The School of Computing and The School of Engineering and Environment. The University have made a conscious effort to promote an open door policy, giving students access to the facilities round the clock, while restricting entry to certain areas by utilising a range of security features and the creation of a number of ‘zones’. After carrying out a site assessment, Thompson AVC created a CCTV, access control and intruder detection system which links back to a central control in the MA building. Existing cameras that were previously installed across City South Campus were also integrated and brought in line with the rest of the system.

According to Sandy Shaw – Campus Ops Manager for the University “It is the first monitored access control system we’ve used and the results have been very impressive”. Click here to download more information.
