The client
The UK Battery Industrialisation Centre (UKBIC) is a pioneering project to fast track the development of cost-effective, high-performance, durable, safe, low-weight and recyclable batteries.
The 18,500 square metre publicly funded facility – which has already begun to welcome the first of its customers through its doors – can be accessed by any organisation with existing or new battery technology; if that technology will bring green jobs and prosperity to the UK.
How we helped
We worked in partnership with key stakeholders to create a comprehensive suite of security, fire and life safety systems in line with the project’s future focused operations and to ensure effective protection of the site’s users as well as their intellectual property.
Some of the systems we designed and installed included:
- Fire Alarm, with Repeater panel and over 150 connected devices
- Air Aspiration system
- Emergency Voice Communication System (EVCS)
- Intruder Alarm with over 160 connected devices
- Access Control to over 60 doors and integration of turnstiles
- Colour video intercoms
- IP CCTV system, including internal and external cameras
- Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR)
- CCTV camera columns
- WC Alarms
- Paging system with transmitters and antenna
Due to the site’s requirement for continuously managed temperature and humidity levels within the advanced manufacturing and testing facilities, we created a strict operational protocol within relevant access control devices to create ‘Air Locks’ upon entry and exit. Ensuring that the atmosphere within the production facilities remains constant.
